Fast Forward Mississippi presents the first InSpire Talks sponsored by C Spire.
The InSpire series focuses on best practices, leadership, and new technologies to improve Mississippi’s education and government ecosystems. This first InSpire Talk focuses on security in education – from both physical and cyber standpoints. The inaugural InSpire Talk will be held Tuesday, 10/27/2015 at the C Spire Corporate Headquarters in Ridgeland, Mississippi. This conference is specifically reserved for school district administrators and applicable staff across the state of Mississippi.
Being in the thick of football season, we thought our audience would enjoy a pigskin themed event. Kick0ff will be held at 10AM with a session focusing on physical campus security. Larry Rowlett, CEO of Presidential Security and Training Services, and former Secret Service Special Agent in Charge, Ronald Reagan Protective Division, will be the featured presenter during the session.
Halftime will be held on the green space behind the C Spire building with an address from C Spire VP of Corporate Communications Jim Richmond. We’re also honored to have Megan Mullen, television personality and wife of Mississippi State University head football coach Dan Mullen, give a rousing pep talk on the value of leadership. And what would a football-themed event be without a little tailgating? Lunch will be provided by food trucks offering a variety of selections.
The second half of InSpire commences with a focus on cyber security. Chris Sistrunk of renown Cyber Security firm FireEye will give an eye-opening talk about the potential cyber dangers and effective protections your district should be taking in a digital environment.
Following Chris we will host a round-table discussion regarding students, teachers, and social media. The round table will be moderated by Pete Smith, Senior Policy Adviser at the Mississippi Department of Education.
The first InSpire talk will be concluded with a “two minute warning” delivered by the Office of the Mississippi Attorney General about the highly relevant topic of cyber-bullying.
